A note from the Captain (Richard Sago)
Congratulations go to all members, we have played well this year and the club has finished 2nd in the Winter League, this means that after 8 years in League 2 we are now Promoted to League 1 for next Winter.
The last time we were in League 1 was in 2000 – 2001 Season.
All I can ask is that we try our best to maintain a League 1 place in the next couple of years (or longer) it will not be easy but we can do it.
Another piece of good news is that a new carpet is on order at £710, thanks to a grant for £675 from our Suffolk Councillor Christopher Hudson.
The grant was a great help to us as we had to replace a set of Woods last year from club funds at £360 so are now set up for a few years with good equipment again.
We would still welcome new members to join us, (details on the website show) we play most Monday and Friday evenings from 7.30 till around 9.45 pm cost £2 which includes tea or coffee and biscuits and you do not need any special equipment as all is provided. Please come along and try out carpet bowls.
The club meets twice a week on Mondays and Fridays at 7.30 pm in the Village Hall.
In addition to social play the club competes in the Suffolk Carpet Bowls Summer and Winter Leagues and various inter-club competitions.
We are looking for new members of all ages including families. The game is easily learnt and lots of help and encouragement will be offered to anyone thinking of taking up the game.
All equipment is provided and there is no expensive outlay. Please come and join us and have a go.
